Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for local, state and federal compliance with air, waste and water regulations, applicable to Lakewood, NJ
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Preparation, submission and maintenance of permits, plans and reports related to waste, air, water, chemical use
  • Contact/liaison for state, local and federal government for air, waste, water and chemical use inquiries, inspections and permits
  • Environmental data collection, recording and maintenance for government authorities, internal/ corporate and KPI's
  • Report on environmental data and KPI results (monthly meetings)
  • Coordinate waste, water and air testing and monitoring as needed
  • Coordinate waste disposals and recycling removals, conduct waste and recycling facility audits
  • Maintain ISO 14000/Environmental Management System, including preparation of procedures, auditing, conducting management reviews, objective and target planning and tracking, implementation of corrective/preventative actions, and environmental policy updating and conformance
  • Conduct environmental training (including hazardous waste, ISO14000)
  • Track energy use, carbon footprint calculation, investigate and plan objectives for energy reduction projects
  • Support environmental directives, QES audits
  • Support/provide input for third party inquiries and surveys relevant to environmental conditions and the environmental management system (i.e. government, customer, PSTC)
  • Perform internal environmental audits
  • Participate in incident investigations involving chemical spills, air releases
  • Input raw material breakdowns into JDE based on SDS's and supplier inquiries
  • Populate and maintain Gensuite for environmental activities
  • Support DOT regulatory requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree; Environmental or technical discipline a plus; 5 years experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment or a combination of related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Training or experience in Environmental Management Systems/ISO14000 preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state and local environmental, health and safety regulations are essential; Direct experience dealing with regulatory agencies and/or compliance officers a plus.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and/or REGISTRATIONS:
  • DOT Hazmat Transportation & Security Awareness
  • Certified ISO14001 Auditor, a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:
Knowledge of regulatory compliance reports and plans including, but not limited to, TRI, waste reports, SWPP Plans, SPCC Plans, and air and water permit applications. Understanding of NJ specific requirements helpful (such as NJ's Pollution Prevention requirements, RPPR)

COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. The individual must be able to navigate government websites, and successfully enter complex data.
