Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support environmental and safety programs for UAC North America and drive positive safety culture.
  • Develop and implement environmental, health and safety programs for the North American Facilities to meet compliance with federal, state, local laws, and company requirements
  • Coordinate and facilitate safety and health activities at the site, including but not limited to: EH&S orientation and training, emergency response program, and annual training requirements
  • Direct, train, coordinate and advise all UAC Employees, as well as contractors, with regards to Environmental, Health and Safety programs
  • Oversee the analysis and evaluation of air, water, and land systems to determine if pollutants are present and direct the implementation of appropriate corrective action if necessary
  • Work with various vendors and contractors to ensure safe practices within the facilities
  • Facilitate Safety Committee activities and track action items
  • Complete or assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action, planning and execution
  • Maintain OSHA logs, injury reports, documents, and other compliance records for applicable facilities.
  • Coordinate efforts with Human Resources regarding Workers Compensation claims and activities.
  • Support plant personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Maintain safety library (e.g., videos, regulations, reference manuals)
  • Promote safety and health awareness through internal company memorandum, newsletters, and specific training programs.
  • Possess understanding of regulations associated with federal and state (Georgia)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental/Safety Management, Risk Management, or related field; or, commensurate relevant work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Communication Skills: Able to effectively listen and communicate ideas and thoughts to others; excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills; able to assimilate ideas originated by others; able to work effectively with other departments in the development of EHS programs
  • Computer Skills: Proficient with MS Office products (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Reasoning Skills: Able to carry out and communicate written and/or oral instructions; able to multi-task and handle multiple projects simultaneously; adapt easily to changing situations.
  • Travel: Able to travel 15% of the time
  • Physical Abilities: Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands; must be able to lift 50 pounds at any time during his/her shift; the physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
