Indoor Science is seeking a Senior Consultant/Industrial Hygiene Section Manager to join our growing Environmental team in our Aurora, Illinois office!
Job Overview:
This role will lead our staff consultants as an integrated team member, write proposals for prospective clients, serve as a subject matter expert, and support aggressive business expansion initiatives. Work will be performed within the Chicagoland area and within other geographic expansion areas of our growing company.

Job Overview:
This role will lead our staff consultants as an integrated team member, write proposals for prospective clients, serve as a subject matter expert, and support aggressive business expansion initiatives. Work will be performed within the Chicagoland area and within other geographic expansion areas of our growing company.
Main Responsibilities:
- Support internal business units and maintain core business operations, keeping projects on track and driving them to completion
- Work with management to develop business opportunities through tailored marketing efforts and industry leadership initiatives
- Assess indoor environmental quality and occupational health concerns at various client sites including, but not limited to, offices, schools, homes, commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, and industrial facilities
- Perform environmental quality and occupational exposure assessments with a high level of competence
- Function as a Seller/Doer in servicing client needs, preparing proposals, managing projects, maintaining business operations, and supporting staff
- Identify and pursue business opportunities while delivering responsive, high quality services
- Discuss and explain service offering with recurring and prospective clients, with both technical accuracy and emotional intelligence
- Evaluate work environments through various area and personal monitoring strategies to determine compliance against regulatory and recommended occupational exposure levels
- Act as a subject matter expert for all matters related to industrial hygiene services, including chemical, particulate, biological and physical contaminants
- Accurately interpret sampling/measurement results, draw conclusions based on assessment findings, provide recommendations for corrective actions, and guide clients to appropriate solutions
- Speak with prospective clients and describe our services and related costs
- Maintain and calibrate instruments and equipment
- Develop high quality written deliverables such as reports, drawings and project specifications
- Train current and new staff consultants in indoor environmental quality and industrial hygiene practices
- Support strategic business growth and expansion initiatives
Basic Qualifications:
- BS degree in related field (industrial hygiene, public health, environmental health, occupational safety, biology, chemistry, engineering, etc.)
- 6-10 years of experience in the field of environmental and IH consulting, or similar
- ABIH Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred, ACAC Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC), or similar professional certification required
- Illinois licensed Asbestos Inspector required
- Illinois licensed Air Sampling Professional expected
- Illinois licensed Lead Based Paint Inspector/Risk Assessor preferred
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to lead and influence stakeholders towards a common goal
- Upper-level decision-making skills
- Expertise in business management and statistical analysis
- Physically able to crawl, climb, and walk on uneven surfaces such as scaffolding, rooftops, elevated platforms and temporary working surfaces
