HYBRID ROLE

Looking for a highly motivated and collaborative individual to join our fast-growing Analytics and Informatics team as a Scientist, Computational Biology. In this role, the successful candidate will leverage high-dimensional datasets generated from diverse screening methodologies with the goal of developing novel gene therapy technologies, particularly our AAVid delivery technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analyzing next-generation sequencing data, ranging from standard RNA-Seq to bespoke high-throughput screens (HTS), with a demonstrated record of scientific accomplishment. As part of a team that places high value on constant innovation, lifelong learning, and selfless sharing of knowledge, this individual will have the unique opportunity to enhance their technical skills while simultaneously contributing to the successful treatment of serious human diseases.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement novel strategies for analyzing HTS NGS data to develop next-generation gene therapy platform technologies and therapeutics (e.g., MPRA, CRISPR, AAV libraries)
  • Interface with experimentalists to facilitate rigorous experimental design and efficient decision-making
  • Utilize and cross-compare diverse analytical tools and strategies to maximally leverage disparate internal and external data types
  • Author and maintain clearly documented code, and effectively collaborate and iterate for further optimization and extension

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • PhD. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Genomics, or a related discipline
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team-player mindset
  • Ability to tackle challenges with a problem-solving, "can-do" attitude, and a desire to work in a dynamic start-up environment

Skills and Experience:
  • Proven track record of developing and applying innovative and rigorous computational methodologies to customized NGS HTS data types
  • Demonstrated proficiency in one or more programming languages (Python, Bash, R) and workflow management tools (Nextflow or equivalent)
  • Experience with statistical modeling and inference using biological datasets.
  • Experience using cloud-based computing environments (e.g. AWS)
  • Experience with collaborative development using version control systems (e.g. Git)
  • Capable of simultaneously progressing multiple projects involving different data types and structures
  • Superb attention to detail, meticulous organizational skills, and effective and proactive communication
  • Experience in molecular biology, NGS or proteomic experimental protocols is a plus
  • Subject matter expertise in virology, RNA biology, or protein structure is a plus
