Your Role in achieving this will be as our Health & Safety Manager

Factorial is a fast-growing business attracting talent from all over the world to help us on our mission to build the best batteries to power Vehicles, Homes, and Businesses. We are searching for an experienced leader to join our Production Team as an EHS Manager. This is a newly created position that will be tasked with leading the safety team and initiatives, as well as advising the company leadership to continually improve our work environment and policies to minimize risk.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve on corporate safety committees; review and discuss safety needs, provide updates, training, DOT, Hazmat, OSHA, EPA, and related safety and compliance information
  • Provide subject matter expertise in Process Safety ensuring industry best practice
  • Provide assistance to all locations to ensure compliance with occupational safety and environmental requirements. This may include but is not limited to administering exposure tests, ear and foot protection, respirator program, coordinating repairs and upgrades to safety equipment, or similar tasks as assigned
  • Site inspections and corrective action(s):
  • Train and direct management to inspect facilities, work sites, and equipment for violations and hazards
  • Provide direction to management on correcting identified problems in a timely manner ? Follow up to make sure all corrective actions were taken and completed.
  • Assist where needed
  • Responsible for updating, maintaining, and auditing location safety standards and procedures on a quarterly basis
  • Develop effective training programs for managers/employees that will efficiently cover all needed/required materials
  • Investigate all accidents and near misses to determine the root cause and provide recommendations that eliminate or reduce future hazards or risk
  • Track and control inventory of safety supplies and equipment and work with managers to keep adequate safety supplies on-hand
  • Assist with training for new hires and provide ongoing training for all employees
  • Review and update MSDS and SPCC plans as needed
  • Review and drive change processes of all current and proposed equipment for safety compliance including but not limited to E-stops, guarding, pinch points, mechanical and electrical hazards, PPE, and LOTO
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the safety program using established goals and make recommendations, and implement corrective action(s) based on industry standards and best practices
  • Conduct an annual training that promotes a safe, healthy, and secure work environment that includes emergency situations and protocols, use of the alarm system, and necessities to promote a safe work environment
  • Serves as a safety/compliance liaison with outside organizations


Qualifications
  • 8+ Years of experience working in Occupational and Environmental Health & Safety in the lithium-ion battery industry
  • 5+ Years of experience in people management
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety, and Health, or related field required; Masters degree desirable
  • Strong knowledge, understanding, and legal compliance with EHS requirements, Health and Safety regulations (OSHA/EPA/DOT), standard concepts, practices, and procedures with specific knowledge of UN38.3 regulations and compliance
  • Experience working with hazardous chemicals, supporting and maintaining a hazardous waste program as a zero discharge facility
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in occupational and environmental health and safety inspections
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills; capable of influencing a positive safety culture
