Insight Global is looking for a Sr. Environmental Chemist to work 5-days on-site in Valhalla, NY. This chemist will be supporting the application of LC-MS/MS for routine Per- and Polyfluorinated Substances (PFAS) quantitation in support of regulatory compliance in New York State. PFAS are used in industrial applications and found in consumer goods such as clothing, food packaging, cookware, cosmetics, and carpet as well as a fire-fighting foams. People are exposed to PFAS by consuming contaminated water and food, breathing in dust with PFAS, and contact with consumer products that contain PFAS. The Sr. Environmental Chemist will be developing and implementing the analysis of drinking water by EPA Method 533.0-2019 and EPA Method 537.1, Rev1.0-2018. They will be coordinating all operations required to get the methods functional and ready for certification. The candidate chemist must be well versed in the challenges of developing and using methods operating in the part-per-trillion (ppt) levels. Once method development is completed and all Quality Control is documented to meet method requirements, the Laboratory will submit an application for NYSDOH ELAP (New York State Department of Health Environmental Laboratory Approval) certification. Finally, this person is responsible for training existing laboratory staff in the performance of solid phase extraction, LC-MS/MS instrumentation, and the interpretation of the associated data.
