We are seeking an Environmental Staff Scientist to join our Portland, OR team!
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Successful candidates will work with experience professional consultants in performing environmental assessment and remediation projects
- As well as due diligence activities associated with property transactions and industrial hygiene sampling and inspection
- Candidates should have completed a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, geology, or science
- Be willing to work both as part of a team and independently in the office as well as in the field on small to large projects
- Motivated candidates willing to learn and grow within an organization that have potential for advancement into project management should apply
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, geology, or related science
- Minimum 0-3 Years
- Assist with Phase 1 and Phase II Environmental Assessments under the direction of a senior consultant
- Perform subsurface investigations, field mapping, borehole logging, and aerial photograph analysis,
- Conduct and document field activities such as soil and groundwater sampling, installation of soil borings and monitoring wells, interviews, and tank excavations and/or removals,
- Conduct hazardous material and inspections and remedial oversight and assist with report preparation.
- Research site-specific information using online resources
- Design figures, charts, and tables
- Complete environmental reports, permit applications, and other technical documents
- Assist clients with complying with local, regional, state, and federal regulations.
Technical Requirements:
- Technical writing experience
- 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification Optional
- AHERA Building Inspector certification Optional
Other miscellaneous qualities:
- Experience using field equipment
- Ability to work independently
- Positive, flexible team-oriented approach
- Detail oriented, resourceful
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel (40-50%)
