We are now looking for an Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist for our Aberdeen, MS location.

The successful candidate will support the Aberdeen plant in meeting EHS targets to ensure a safe and environmentally responsible operations for our employees and the community. Maintain compliance with Federal, State, Municipal and Corporate regulations. Develop, implement, monitor and manage all environmental, health and safety procedures and programs including proactive safety process, waste minimization, and risk management to continuously improve operations. Work actively to support employees on day-to-day issues and provide employees training as required.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Ensure compliance with all regulations through procedure development, auditing and document management according to ISO/Corporate requirements.
• Advise plant management regarding Federal, State, Local, and corporate requirements.
• Complete site reporting requirements and regulatory reporting requirements in a timely manner.
• Act as principal site contact with local regulators and officials in regards to site safety and environmental compliance.
• Advise management and employees of safety issues as they arise. Ensure required employee training is conducted in a timely manner. Maintain training records on health, safety and environmental issues.
• Analyze new products, raw materials, and processes to ensure effective employee Hazard Communication, environmental and safety procedures, and safety training.
• Coordinate incident investigation, analysis and follow-up on action plans to minimize recurrence. Use corporate and local documentation tools to record activities.
• Stay current with corporate EHSQ standards: review changes, complete gap assessments, implement improvements, update local procedures, train personnel to modifications.
• Participate in activities to enhance the plant's position in the community to ensure good community relations focusing in the EHS area.
• Manage the emergency response program and participate as outlined in the plant Emergency Response and Contingency Plan.
• Coordinate response with the Columbus Fire Department as well as joint training activities.
• Lead and administer proactive medical monitoring program and emergency medical needs of the facility in accordance with corporate guidelines.
• Develop site Industrial Hygiene protocols and supervise technical support to completion.
• Coordinate site personal protective equipment program to include equipment selection, training, inspection, and medical clearance as necessary.
• Promote and execute plant waste minimization program including options other than disposal for obsolete materials (Pollution Prevention program).
• Support/coordinate Behavioral Safety Program to assure a positive safety culture.
• Work with plant production to review opportunities for process improvements in the areas of environmental, health and safety.

What you need:

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent education and/or three to five years chemical manufacturing experience including demonstrated leadership ability.
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA, EPA, GAEPD regulations and NFPA codes.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to train personnel.
• Self-driven, results oriented, and able to successfully time-manage in order to prioritize and complete a variety of competing tasks.
• Ability to write and review procedures.
• Good computer skills, e.g. Microsoft Office, SAP.
