Job Purpose or Objective(s): This position will be responsible for developing, effectively implementing and managing Choctaw Nation's environmental programs for all tribal facilities, fee and trust lands as well as individually owned Indian lands.

This is a Temporary, Grant funded position that will end on September 30th, 2023.

Primary Tasks:
  • Assure compliance with federal, state, local, and tribal regulations for Choctaw Nation facilities by scheduling, conducting, documenting and following up on sample collections, inspections, walk thru's or incident related issues. Assist with incident investigation and analysis.
  • Communicate with federal, state and local regulatory agencies via telephone, email or in person visit to resolve questions, concerns, requirements. Participate in environmental regulatory inspections.
  • Respond to Choctaw Nation internal requests for environmental related assistance.
  • Train site staff on responsibilities associated with appropriate federal, state, local, and tribal regulations.
  • Maintain necessary technical and laboratory certifications to conduct assigned tasks. Analyze and report data as required.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining Choctaw Nation environmental policies. Implement environmental policies and best management practices.
  • Maintain good documentation of all job-related activities
  • Compile and submit quarterly progress reports to EPA Project Officer. Complete status and progress reporting documents per program objectives. Review monthly financial reports and maintain budget spreadsheets. Maintain and revise grant objectives and budget and monitor line item fluctuations as needed to complete funding obligations, if necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.


  • Required Education, Skills and Experience:

    MINIMUM
    • Bachelor's degree in a science related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Environmental Certification in a related program (UST, lead based paint, asbestos, mold, safe drinking water, etc.)
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently or in a group and manage priorities
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Five (5) years of related work in the environmental field


    TARGET
    • Bachelor of Science Degree in a science related field
    • Multiple Environmental Certifications in related programs (UST, lead based paint, asbestos, mold, safe drinking water, etc.) or ability to achieve within 1 year
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently or in a group and manage priorities
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Seven (7) years of related work in the environmental field
