POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for a highly motivated Computational Biologist with strong skills in genomic analysis to join our Bioinformatics and Computational Biology group. The successful candidate will work closely with genomics colleagues to establish methods on evaluation of efficacy and safety profile of our novel genome editing methods in vitro and in vivo. This candidate will have the prestigious opportunity to apply long read sequencing technology to characterize the integrated long genes and the fidelity of insertion. The environment is exciting and fast-paced and offers the opportunity to contribute to moving a start-up to a clinical-stage biotech.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Lead genomic analysis for characterization of integrated gene structure and fidelity
Ø Explore, develop, document and maintain tailored algorithms/analysis methods for long read sequencing data (ONT and PacBio)
Ø Expediate recurring analysis requirement by deployment of one-click, well-designed, version-controlled pipelines
Ø Collect ideas, requests across the team, and translate into computational languages to design and develop database for metadata/results storage; design and implement interactive webpage for data visualization and promote data accessibility
Ø Interpret the data and communicate findings when needed
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Ø MS. or Ph. D with specialization in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science or Mathematics.
Ø 1+ years experience post Ph.D or 2+ years experience post MS., ideally direct industry experience in long read sequencing data analysis area
Ø Strong coding skills using Python, R, Shell, MySQL, Unix/Linux-based command line tools
Ø Familiar with major NGS analysis algorithms or pipelines (Alignment tools, assembly, Variant calling, etc)
Ø Proficiency in molecular biology and major bioinformatics databases
Ø Outstanding teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ø Thrives in a fast-paced environment working on creative solutions towards well-defined goals
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ø Experience with CRISPR, or other gene editing
Ø Cloud computing experience; docker, container registries
Ø Expertise in full-stack development in a drug development setting
Ø Can-do attitudes and learn as you go
Ø Experience working in a functional and matrix environment
