Role Description
Work under the leadership of the VP Environmental compliance and/or of their direct manager to safeguard company environmental operating permits, develop compliance strategies and participate in rulemaking to ensure maximum operational flexibility while maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state and local environmental rules and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provides plant support to achieve and maintain compliance with applicable regulations, company policy and best management practices.
  • Develop subject matter expertise to provide guidance and program development and implementation.
  • Support the development of plant environmental strategies (e.g. ISO 14001), Waste and Water Reduction Programs, Sustainability Data Management, etc. Help to implement and monitor existing and comprehensive programs.
  • Support environmental compliance activities including, but not limited to compiling EI, TRI, GHG and HW reports, DMRs, contingency emergency and spill response plans, emissions control and waste management plans, permit applications, emissions testing, CEMS certifications.
  • Audit Plant operation of environmental management and Sustainability systems, Ardagh's GoGreen Index, Environmental KPIs, and compliance with permits and regulations.
  • Develop and implement programs aligned to the business needs to improve efficiency of environmental compliance.
  • Direct Plant personnel and verify emissions monitoring activities, reviewing and reporting of emissions data, preparing and submitting permit certifications and other required compliance reports and general training.
  • Effectively track and communicate progress on all work assignments so that customers/coworkers know needs are being addressed and regulatory deadlines met.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach in resolving compliance issues by developing, documenting, and implementing procedures/policies that will eliminate future incidents.
  • Support and assist in resolving environmental CEMS and DAHS monitoring operational issues to ensure regulatory monitoring obligations are met.
  • Review assigned plant's emission compliance on a daily basis and take actions with plant and operational Teams before non-compliance events occur.
  • Operational knowledge of Emission Control Devices (ECD) and the ability to assist the plants in troubleshooting operational issues.
  • Use and interpret environmental and operational data through the use of statistical computer programs in determining process interactions and driving forces to reduce emissions levels.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Environmental Engineering, Environment Sciences, or a related field.
  • 5+ years experience that demonstrates a solid understanding of environmental laws, polices, and management procedures.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated; Able to make independent, informed, and prioritized decisions with minimal supervisions.
Environmental & Physical Requirements
  • Normal office setting and warm manufacturing environment when in plants.
  • Hearing, eye and foot protection must be worn in the plants, as well as other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)as required.
  • Position requires full physical capability to climb ladders, catwalks, etc.
  • Comply with Environmental and Food Safety standards as set forth in plant policies/programs within Department responsibilities.
