Overview:

The GIS Specialist I performs the tasks necessary to create, develop, and maintain GIS in support of NV5's biological, cultural and environmental resource programs. Preference will be shown for candidates with experience in NEPA compliance, transportation, and infrastructure projects, along with Phase I and Phase II ESAs. Additional responsibilities include field work support for Phase I and Phase II ESAs (such as soil and groundwater sampling and oversight and monitoring of well construction)

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include client and agency interaction and development, planning and program analyses, production of high-quality reports, adherence to project budgets and schedules, project management, public involvement coordination including presentations, and quality control. Position requires some travel and field work. Develops and maintains quality control for NV5's GIS data.Participates in collecting, digitizing, analyzing, editing, and entering GIS and GPS data.Contacts agencies and consultants to obtain digital data for use in projects, with the guidance and approval of the Project/Program Managers.Produces GIS-generated cartographic mapping projects and presentation graphics for use in meetings, planning, and projects.Performs field survey work relating to the creation of data sets.Utilize and train NV5 staff and interns in the use of GPS equipment.Coordinates and shares use of GIS data sets with NV5 staff and agencies.Assist GIS Program Manager as needed.Imports .dwg files from engineering drawings into a GIS environment.Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation is desirable.

Qualifications:
College degree in Environmental Science, or related field (e.g., Natural Resources) with a specialty in GIS. One year of experience with GIS and specifically with data sets relating to biological and cultural resources.
