SENIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE MOLECULAR AND CELLULAR BIOLOGY

ONK Therapeutics is an innovative cell therapy company dedicated to the development of best-in-class, off-the-shelf/allogeneic chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) natural killer (NK) cell therapies for patients suffering from both hematologic and solid tumors. The company's innovative approach to CAR therapy harnesses the innate biology of NK cells, whose function is further optimized through additional genetic engineering of the cells to improve their cytotoxicity and their function, even in the hostile tumor micro-environment.

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic senior research associate for our San Diego site, who would participate in several of the cell therapy programs. Their responsibilities are, but not limited to, designing, executing, and analyzing experiments supporting our current NK cell therapy programs.

Essential functions

Participating in cell therapy program using innovative approaches

Perform experiment to evaluate cell cytotoxicity, activation, proliferation, viability

Present data at the weekly lab meeting

Mentoring of more junior staff members

Good organization skills, keeping a good record of experiment and data on the electronic laboratory notebook

Sharing responsibility in equipment maintenance, ordering, reagent inventory

Education/Experience requirements

Master's degree in cancer biology, immunology, molecular biology or related field, with 3-5 years of experience with at least 2 years in industry setting

Prior experience in cell therapy is desirable

Ability to be flexible, innovative, and highly organized to work quickly and efficiently in a growing biotech start-up environment is necessary

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Ability to maintain cell lines, establishment of stable cell lines

Experience with microplate absorbance-based assays (ELISA, bioluminescent assays etc…)

Experience in extracellular and intracellular flow cytometry staining desirable (10+ fluorophores)

Hands-on experience with isolation, and culturing of lymphocytes from various sources

Experience with PCR, qPCR, DNA, RNA isolation, protein purification, SDS PAGE, western blot

Demonstrated knowledge in plasmid design, CAR design

Experience with CRISPR gene editing and transposon CAR based desirable but not required

Ability to work with minimum supervision, be a team player

Well organized and have a good record of data, using electronic lab notebook ELN

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), Flowjo, Snapgene, Lasergene, GraphPad Prism

Excellent oral and written communication skills
