Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Senior Associate II

Environmental Incentives seeks to hire one or more Senior Associates, level 2, to join our growing Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) portfolio. In this role you will contribute technical expertise to delivering highly insightful work to EI's clients across 14 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean and to addressing the priority technical needs of our USAID clients in the Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean. This work falls under the LAC Environment Support Services Contract (LAC ESSC) where EI is helping USAIDinthedesign, management, and evaluation of regional and bilateral environment, resilience, and energy programs.

As a Senior Associate, level 2, on the LAC team, you will lead scoping, production and finalization of client deliverables, such as a series of facilitated workshops to help clients develop a MEL framework, creation of an assessment or learning product around priority topics such as climate adaptation or ocean plastics, or helping USAID mission staff use evidence-based approaches as they design, implement, and learn from programs that integrate environment and human wellbeing objectives. You will ensure that our clients' needs are met with the highest quality technical insights and products tailored to their needs. This will include managing work processes and the contributions of other EI staff and those of consultants and subcontractors.You will also leverage your excellent communication and project management capabilities to ensure that all client engagement contributes to maintaining and building on EI's trusting, appreciative, and productive relationships with the LAC ESSC client teams.

Responsibilities
EI seeks experts in technical areas relevant to our clients' areas of programming interest across the areas of environment, resilience, energy, and inclusive development. As a Senior Associate on the LAC ESSC contract, you will provide technical expertise, informed by international development experience, to our work with USAID in one or more of the following areas: resilience, climate adaptation, biodiversity, environmental compliance, forestry, gender, indigenous peoples, locally led development, monitoring, evaluation, & learning (MEL), ocean plastics, sustainable landscapes, and energy.
Leads Delivery of Service to Clients
  • Facilitates client visioning discussions that result in products and services that exceed client expectations through feasible, impactful deliverables.
  • Leads workflow processes for contracted work, including scoping, production, and finalization of products and initiatives that meet EI's quality standards for production and client engagement.
  • Maintains open communication with clients about progress and brings a strong solution-orientation to all aspects of service delivery.
Contributes Technical Expertise
  • Contributes technical expertise to the preparation and delivery of contracted (or internal) work, which could include supporting design of USAID activities and MEL frameworks, facilitating Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting (CLA) processes, designing and facilitating workshops, conducting research and analysis, synthesizing information in audience-appropriate formats, and creating products that meet EI's quality standards.
  • Manages production processes and provides technical direction and quality assurance/quality control to others who contribute to products, demonstrating the ability to problem solve with limited oversight.
Leads Communications and Events
  • Plans, generates materials, delivers content, and follows up for client meetings, webinars, and events frequently with the support of others.
  • Prepares communications products that summarize findings and knowledge for technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as international development, biodiversity conservation, environmental studies, climatology, and/or monitoring and evaluation, and 9+ years of experience; Master's degree and 7+ years relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing work processes and the work of staff, subcontractors, and consultants to deliver high quality client work in your area of technical expertise on time and on budget. .
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing professional consulting services to USAID in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Experience managing large and complex technical bodies of work.
  • Experience with creating communications products that share technical findings and/or communicating key messages to target audiences in a format that meets their communication style.
  • Experience as co-/lead facilitator of client and internal workshops involving interactive facilitation techniques, both in-person and virtual.
  • Professional working proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese. Professional working proficiency is defined as being:
    • Able to use the language effectively in most formal and informal written exchanges on practical, social and professional topics.
    • Able to speak the language with sufficient structural accuracy and vocabulary to participate effectively in most conversations on practical, social, and professional topics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Current technical expertise and a strong professional network in one or more of the following areas of international development: resilience, climate adaptation, biodiversity, environmental compliance, forestry, gender, indigenous peoples, locally led development, monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL), ocean plastics, sustainable landscapes, and/or energy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Outstanding soft skills, including the ability to hear and respond to the interests of many parties and to collaborate with, listen to, respect, and celebrate the contributions of others, including others of different cultural backgrounds.
  • Problem-solving orientation and growth mindset.
Additional Requirements
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States or country of work (Colombia, Peru, Brazil, or the Dominican Republic) with no restrictions.

Base Station and Covid-19 Policy
EI's LAC ESSC team is largely based in Washington, DC. These positions may be based in Washington, DC or at a remote location, with a preference for remote work to be stationed in at or near relevant clients in Latin America and the Caribbean (especially Colombia, Peru, Brazil, or the Dominican Republic). Employees must be available to work during DC business hours. If located remotely, the staff member agrees to travel to the DC office up to at least once per calendar quarter, with costs of travel covered by EI.

Proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 or legally authorized exemption is required for all Environmental Incentives employees working in the United States, regardless of office location or remote work. Selected candidates will be required to provide proof of full vaccination before beginning employment with Environmental Incentives. Full vaccination is defined as 2 weeks after the final dose of the requisite vaccination.
