Description

We are seeking exceptional candidates to spearhead analysis of spatial microscopy image data, single-cell data, and develop algorithms for quantitative image and sequence analysis. As a bioinformatics scientist, you will develop pipelines for data extraction and analysis from biological images. You will also aid in data interpretation to draw novel biological conclusions.

This position will require working within a cross-functional product development team alongside members of R&D, Manufacturing, Marketing/Product-management, Operations, and your bioinformatics & software engineering colleagues.

Spatial Genomics is a young and rapidly growing startup company in the life sciences industry. The successful applicant will ideally have experience thriving in a dynamic and rapidly evolving organization, working proactively and independently across multiple canonical job functions to execute on priorities with limited resources, support, and high expectations.

Major Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on the development of new tools/algorithms for analysis of genomics data
  • Construct single cell analysis pipelines
  • Develop methods for data visualization and interpretation
  • Assist with data extraction from spatial images
  • Review and test methods reported in the literature
  • Document code and processes
  • Assist others in the use of software packages and pipelines
  • Be a strong contributor to achieving the overall product development objectives
  • Other duties as assigned


Required

Qualifications

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Physical or Life Sciences, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience in microscopy image analysis, single-cell data analysis, algorithm development for quantitative image and sequence analysis
  • Good coding ability, working knowledge of Python
  • Working knowledge of statistics and linear algebra
  • Interest in the life sciences and enthusiasm for collaborating with life science researchers
  • Ability to learn and apply new tools and technologies to solving technical/scientific problems
  • Interest in the life sciences and enthusiasm for collaborating with life science researchers


Preferred

  • Experience with multi-omic analyses, possibly including ISH, Immunofluorescence, IHC, RNA and DNA sequencing
  • Experience working in software development or in genomics research
  • Working knowledge of git and Github
  • Experience with digital pathology applications or cloud-based analysis tools/platforms are a plus
