IEA, Inc. is a growing health & safety consulting firm based in Minnesota offering employees potential for growth, as well as a challenging work environment. We are currently hiring for the following position in our Rochester, MN office.

Environmental Professional Position:

The Rochester, MN office is seeking an Environmental Professional. This position will assist with client projects and perform tasks necessary to ensure safety compliance during inspections, monitoring, and sampling. Travel is primarily during business hours with frequent regional travel, occasionally some projects will require overnight travel.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensures and promotes compliance with federal and state safety laws, standards, and regulations applicable to hazardous materials, particularly by conducting regular inspections and investigations of assigned sites, projects, activities, or incidents.
  • Collects and tests samples using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Assist with oversight of project specifications.
  • Communicates issues with client or project immediately to Project Manager.
  • Maintains records in project logs and electronic databases.
  • Becomes proficient in the standard services for appropriate division.
  • Assist with project documentation under the guidance of project and account managers.
  • Maintains current knowledge and expertise by actively participating in training on principles, methods, and techniques related to hazardous material and health and safety management.
  • Tracks project hours and expenses on a weekly basis.
  • Conducts work as efficiently as possible while not sacrificing quality.
  • Accomplishes work consistent with internal Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Complies with health and safety procedures as outlined in the Health and Safety Handbook.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Thorough understanding of methods, procedures, and techniques needed to collect and test materials and analyze situations.


Education and Experience Requirements:
  • 2,000 hours of work experience in general construction trades, asbestos related work, safety, industrial hygiene, or hazardous materials control. OR
  • Bachelor's degree in physical or life sciences, engineering or architecture and 500 hours of work experience in the areas listed above. OR
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program within the general commercial construction trades.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree and/or experience in Environmental or Construction field preferred.
  • Health and Safety Certifications - Asbestos Site Supervisor


Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Associates are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites. The noise level at job sites can be loud.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to traverse a variety of terrains in all conditions and environments.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
