ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist to join our Automotive Electronic Products (AEP) team in our Logansport, Indiana location. The Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for the development and execution of all safety and environmental programs and processes including policy development, training, and implementation. This role will work with all levels of the organization to support and drive the creation of a strong safety culture that engages employees in the achievement of the goal of zero incidents. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to complete complex assignments in an efficient manner requiring full use and application of Health and Safety knowledge. Position works with minimal supervision and may plan and assign indirect personnel for given projects or tasks.

Major responsibilities:
  • Develops programs and procedures designed to reduce occupational and non-occupational accident/injury/illness experiences
  • Promotes health and safety awareness throughout the organization through effective employee communications, participation, and programming
  • Manages development and maintenance of training programs on industrial safety, industrial hygiene, emergency planning, government regulations, hazardous materials, and other related issues. Tracks training completion
  • Ensures completion of site and workstation-level risk assessments to identify and prioritize Environmental, Health and Safety aspects and hazards
  • Identify applicable OSHA, EPA, federal and state regulations to ensure compliance through standardized processes. Prepare and submit government reports as required by all applicable regulations.
  • Identifies and supports participation and/or achievement & maintenance of third-party recognition - such as OSHA Voluntary Protection Program, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
  • Supports the deployment of Health and Safety teams and facilitates their engagement in ownership of the activities required to maintain compliance and drive continuous improvement
  • Leads site efforts to ensure that key Health and Safety operational controls are in place and that Health and Safety action items and investigations on workplace incidents are resolved on a timely basis.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.


DESIRED QULAIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in industrial Hygiene, Environmental or Occupational Health and Safety Management or closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in managing environmental, occupational health or safety programs within a manufacturing or test/technical center environment.
  • Professional certification preferred (Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, Graduate Safety Professional, Safety Management Specialist).
  • Working knowledge of cross-functional EHS disciplines including ergonomics
  • Management systems knowledge of planning, objectives and targets, preventative and corrective action, training, and monitoring/inspecting/auditing.
  • Must have ability to work with minimal supervision and must be capable of implementing EHS Function Initiatives
  • Ability to communicate and facilitate presentations with all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage and track multiple projects to completion
  • Understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes
