Responsibilities

An exciting growth opportunity, our new (organic) Adjuvant Formulation Chemist will direct lab activities for the development of existing formulas, be responsible for registering existing and new formulas, and the manufacture of new branded adjuvant products and formulations including but not limited to surfactants, spreader stickers, crop oils, anti-foaming materials, buffering agents, and compatibility agents. This role will partner with various functions of our business including sales, marketing, safety, regulatory, operations, and manufacturing stakeholders to identify business needs and determine the best formulation development path forward. This role will also advise and educate the field on product use in order to expand the market and drive business results.

  • Proven ability to operate independently with a focus on growth for the business including leading, planning and executing research projects surrounding product formulation and customer success.
  • Demonstrated record of achievement for formulation research and development for adjuvants products.
  • In-depth formulation development experience, preferably in adjuvants used in vegetation management, aquatics, forestry, rights of way, and land management.
  • Strong understanding of formulation and application technologies based on practical use of physical-chemical properties and analytical methods.
  • Proven track record of generating new innovation and application of cutting-edge technology.
  • Ambitious, entrepreneurial thinker with goals to make their mark through product innovation.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, record keeping, and decision-making skills.
  • Solid verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinker.


Responsibilities
  • This role will also advise and educate the field on product use in order to expand the market and drive business results.
  • Direct lab activities pertaining to adjuvant product development.
  • Build and grow laboratory.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis on raw materials.
  • Interface with manufacturing on proper formulation and production of adjuvant products.
  • Maintain digital infrastructure for manufacturing formulas.
  • Implement training for sales staff.
  • Act as a resource to field staff with questions pertaining to product functionality and performance, compatibility, stability, specifications, and quality control requirements.
  • Work on chemistry details of products, registrations, labels, and SDS documents.
  • Build and maintain forensic laboratory capabilities to determine sources of product failure or quality issues.
  • Troubleshoot issues with products in the field or storage at branches.
  • Evaluate competitive products, technologies, and marketing materials.
  • Meet with vendors to vet products or technology offerings.
  • Evaluate raw materials for supply chain purchasing and new technologies for product development opportunities.
  • Produce training materials and presentations for field staff education.
  • Provide data and advice to marketing staff to produce brochures, bulletins, etc.
  • Review system bill of materials and manufacturing recipes and production procedures prior to issuance of a system item number for Branded Products to ensure they meet labels and proper manufacturing standards.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.
