Job Description SummaryAs a Research Scientist - Biosciences (Preclinical Biologist) within the Biology and Applied Physics organization you will work within a multidisciplinary team of researchers to design and execute in vivo experiments to advance the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.Job Description
At GE Research, we See, Move, and Create the future of healthcare. The Biosciences team develops and validates novel technologies for the diagnosis, characterization, and non-pharmaceutical treatment of diseases.

In this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Utilizing knowledge of biochemical pathways and preclinical models to design and conduct in vivo experiments and assays to assess the efficacy of novel technologies for the characterization and treatment diseases.
  • Analyzing experimental data and presenting conclusions.
  • Collaborating with diverse team of biologists, chemists, engineers, and computer scientists in the development and generation of proposals to internal and external funding sources.
  • Preparing and participating in project and technical reviews.
  • Delivering presentations, reports, and publications to engineering staff, GE businesses and/or external agencies.
  • Fostering a multidisciplinary and inclusive team environment.

Position Requirements:
  • A PhD in Pharmacology, biomedical sciences, or other relevant biology discipline with demonstrated preclinical experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently perform analytical and laboratory research work.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals at the Master's or Bachelor's level for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
  • Must be 18 years or older.

Desired Characteristics:
  • Knowledge of preclinical disease models.
  • Demonstrated competency in designing and executing in vivo pharmacological experiments including tissue collection and analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience with biological assays and data analysis.
  • Expertise in neurology and neuroanatomy.
  • Hands on experience handling radiolabeled tracers.
  • Familiarity and experience with diagnostic imaging.
  • Familiarity with the drug development process.
