The Impact You'll Make

In this role, you will be at the forefront of building a comprehensive multimodal functional genomics and pharmacological map of human CNS biology to drive therapeutics discovery. As the Computational Biology Lead for Neuroscience, you will work closely with biologists, data scientists, and software engineers to envision and build a biological data stack that enables inference-based discovery at scale to deliver breakthrough medicines for patients with diseases of the brain.

• Discover new analytical workflows enabled by Recursion's unique capacity to perform >1 million experiments per week. In close collaboration with machine learning, data science, and biology colleagues, identify key data and workflows to enable target ID, program nomination, and biomarker development for novel therapeutics against neurological and rare disease indications.
• Synthesize diverse -omics datasets to map human CNS biology and surface biological insights to support drug discovery teams. Leverage a deep understanding of CNS biology to support validation of datasets.
• Lead and mentor a team of multifunctional computational biologists focused on the build-out of Recursion's multimodal Neuroscience dataset.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Recursion's data science and machine learning teams to further advance Recursion's ability to interpret and translate large-scale phenomics data into therapeutic programs.

We are building a diverse and collaborative team focused on building a multimodal map of CNS biology fit-for-purpose for drug discovery: the Neuroscience. Our group is a bold, agile, interdisciplinary collective of biological, computational, drug discovery, and machine learning scientists. You will lead computational biology strategy and collaborate extensively with biologists, data scientists, and software engineers throughout the organization. Essential attributes to this role include a bold, execution-first attitude and a passion for creating multimodal datasets that are fit-for-purpose for drug discovery.

The Experience You'll Need

Director, Computational Biology, Neuroscience

• 5+ years applying professional competencies to fundamental problems of relevance to drug discovery or experience in biopharma industry setting (domain specific experience in other areas of biology will be considered, as well)
• Demonstrated experience applying computational methods, including probabilistic, statistical, or machine learning analysis of biological and/or human clinical data. (PhD or equivalent experience)
• Background in neuroscience, neuroimmunology, cellular biology, and/or neurodegeneration
• Experience and familiarity working with large multimodal biological datasets of relevance to drug discovery
• Fluency and experience working with high-level programming language such as Python or R for complex data analysis
• Understanding of current state of therapeutic development and ability to drive scientific strategy
