In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration's (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. Summary of Duties:
  • Performs environmental, radiation, industrial hygiene, fire protection and safety inspections and tests
  • Records data and performs data manipulations to provide the technical information needed for environmental protection, safety, and health programs, and fire protection criteria

You Must Have:
  • Develops plans, schedules and methodologies for routine monitoring and surveillance activities and devises procedures for special surveys
  • Performs calculations to determine levels of hazardous materials and radiation levels in the workplace and environment
  • Prepares reports on environmental monitoring programs, industrial hygiene survey results, safety audits and job hazards analysis and fire protection survey results
  • Maintains project/program records and corresponding databases to include environmental monitoring data, radioactive sources, personnel dosimetry, instrumentation calibration, leak test results, and contamination, environmental, fire prevention and safety surveys
  • Conducts appropriate training as necessary
  • Provides guidance to personnel in Technologist, Environment, Safety, and Health positions
  • Maintains a current inventory of ES&H equipment such as respirators, personal protective equipment, degreasers, dust collectors, computers, lockout/tagout equipment, air monitoring equipment, and emergency communications equipment for the EOC
  • Performs periodic equipment inspections
  • May also assist fire protection with preventative maintenance and operational testing of fire suppression equipment
  • Measures and records hazardous material levels to support ambient air, chemical, and ventilation monitoring program
  • Provides data on equipment surveys, flammable material usage and other special projects
  • Distributes and collects personnel dosimetry devices
  • Packages special samples, TLD badges and other materials for shipment to labs and processors
  • Assist engineers and technical professionals in coordinating on-site subcontractor activities to assure conformance with quality, safety and fire protection criteria
  • Assists in providing information and support in order to achieve the resolution of issues before the Safety Committees
  • Reviews and interprets technical data

  • Prior experience with the operation of measuring instruments and performance of environmental and radiation monitoring, fire prevention/suppression systems and equipment maintenance, or safety inspections at a level comparable to Technologist, Environment, Safety and Health
  • Formal training or practical experience equivalent to technical knowledge obtained in military training courses or through a two-year technical school
  • Must have ability to understand, interpret, and implement ES&H standards and procedures
