Role: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator

Compensation Range: $90,000 - $110,000 (Depending on experience)

Location: South San Francisco

ItalFoods is seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator to lead our safety programs, manage EHS policies, and develop an environment that fosters a safety-first mentality across the company.
This role is based in South San Francisco and is an in-person work role. This role will report to the Senior Manager of Operations, and Director of Operations, with dotted lines into the Senior Leadership Team, and HR.

What you will do as an EHS Coordinator with ItalFoods:

This is a highly impactful role that is directly accountable for effective EHS practices and supporting worker wellbeing across the company. In this position you will work closely with Operations, Internal/External Vendors, HR, Logistics & Transportation, Senior Leadership, Legal, Sales, and other key teams to keep people, assets, and operations safe & secure. This person will also help prevent, track, and monitor any workers' compensation claims, and will also oversee local, state, and federal regulatory compliance.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight and management of processes and programs integral to promoting worker wellbeing and EHS compliance
  • Partner with department managers and supervisors to develop and drive relevant companywide EHS programs such as Ergonomics, Injury & Illness Prevention and Reporting, Infectious Disease Control, Risk Assessments, Hazard Communication, Warehouse Safety, and Driver and Vehicle Safety
  • In collaboration with department managers and supervisors, develop and manage training programs by educating staff on environmental concerns or health and safety hazards found in the organization, within the Office, Warehouse, Sales, and Delivery functions
  • Conduct risk assessments in all business functions and implement technological/engineered solutions, training, personal protection equipment, or other mitigations
  • Assess compliance status, develop effective audit & inspection programs, and utilize key metrics to drive performance to ensure local, state, and federal regulatory compliance. Examples, but not limited to regulatory agencies include OSHA, CALOSHA, FDA, HACCP, etc.
  • Serve as SME to support sustainability improvements, energy efficiencies, and comply with waste, spill prevention, and regulatory reporting
  • Work in tangent with HR and the senior leadership team to support workers compensation efforts, address active cases while tracking employee recovery progress, and drive accident and claim management
  • Drive facilities maintenance and compliance and assist in project management for the facility projects
  • Assist in any responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Manager, and Directors from time to time as business needs evolve


Minimum requirements for the EHS Coordinator Role:
  • 5+ years of experience in relevant EHS practice working in an office, industrial, and warehouse settings
  • 2+ years of experience managing workers' compensation process and claims for a similarly sized company
  • Requires full working knowledge of EHS business practices and procedures relevant to an office and warehouse
  • Experience in working with regulatory agencies on the county, state, and federal level
  • Must be knowledgeable of standards, best practices, principles, and concepts and integrate them to propose a course of action
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-demand environment to produce high-quality deliverables
  • Excellent presentation and writing skills are required, in addition to soft skills including interpersonal skills, problem-solving, communication, adaptability, and growth-oriented
  • Understanding of OKRs, metrics collection, and analysis
  • Should be a great program manager; willing and able to effectively get into the details of every project
  • Ability to develop a strong culture of safety and influence behavioral change throughout the organization
  • Ability to translate policies, programs, and standards into practical and manageable action plans within the risk tolerance of the business
  • Experience working in the food and beverage industry is a plus
