Faculty Position in Environmental Science and Natural Resources Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences, Rice University
The Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences at Rice University is seeking applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position. We encourage applicants from across the fields of environmental science, with particular interest in areas related to the hydrosphere, including surface and subsurface fluids, (e.g. hydrology, hydrogeology, hydroclimatology, hydrogeophysics, ecohydrology), water resources, and surface processes. We also encourage candidates pursuing research in natural resources relevant to the energy transition to apply, with particular interest in the subfields of geothermal energy, geologic carbon sequestration, subsurface energy storage (e.g.. CAES, thermal, H2), and critical minerals. Applicants using laboratory, field, observational, or computational methods are welcome.
The successful candidate will establish a vigorous, externally funded research program, teach core courses and develop undergraduate and graduate courses within their area of expertise, and be involved in service to the department, university, and the broader scientific community. We particularly welcome applications from individuals with a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Requirements: All candidates must have earned a Ph.D. degree in Earth, Environmental, or Planetary Science or a related field by the time of the appointment: July 1, 2023.
