Responsibilities:Graphite Die Mold is a Morgan Advanced Materials company located in Durham. WE ARE HIRING an EHS Lead IMMEDIATELY , offer a very competitive salary, and an excellent benefits package available DAY ONE of hire.
Job Purpose:
Under general direction, supervise and direct the activities at the Durham, CT site to ensure the facility complies with all local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulatory requirements applicable to the Company. Act as EH&S contact for the facility.
Essential Functions:
  • As a member of the Senior Leadership Team ("SLT"), follows and exemplifies Morgan's Published Code of Ethics
  • Leveraging lean principles, 5S and Kaizen events, lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in company processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment at our Durham facilities.
  • Ensure safety record keeping and data integrity and provide to site Operations Manager. Conduct Incident Investigations and Root Cause analysis., identifying corrective and preventative actions
  • Analyze safety metrics and review weekly and monthly incidents to discover trends to justify the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the safety risk is highest with accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.
  • Identify best practices and incorporate these best practices into our standards to continuously improve company safety policies.
  • Deploy, implement and maintain Company EHS compliance policies.
  • Develop and implement EHS goals and objectives to the workforce inclusive of weekly safety talk topics
  • Complete Job Safety Analysis of tasks and operations.
  • Conduct regular internal EHS Inspections and Audits.
  • Work in a collaborative manner with the EC EHS Director.
  • Recommend and drive continuous improvement activities and implementation of corrective actions, engineering controls or process changes related to safety, ergonomics, employee health, environmental compliance, environmental performance, and reduction in the use of energy and water.
  • Participation in drafting of capital requests for major equipment purchases and facilities improvements projects including obtaining quotes, estimates and doing calculations to provide justification.
  • Follow all state and federal regulatory requirements applicable to the company for permitting, reporting, monitoring, and record keeping for air emissions, sewer discharges, storm water runoff, chemical usage and storage, solid waste management and community-right-to-know.
  • Act as the company's regulatory contact for all regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct employee training to ensure compliance with Company, City, State and Federal regulations.
  • Facilitate and lead Monthly Safety Committee Meetings.
  • Compile and complete internal reports as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements
:A degree in a related field or equivalent, with a preference of 2 years minimum experience with EHS. Prior experience in manufacturing is required along with a preference for previous supervisory experience.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be able to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Word-Processing and Spreadsheet (Excel) software
  • Must be able to clearly present ideas and reports in written and verbal format
  • Must be familiar with basic machine components, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, and electrical.
  • Must be familiar with hazardous materials
  • Must be able to work well with subordinates, peers and superiors in all departments of the Company
  • Must be able to work well with external contacts of the Company
  • Must have good time management, organization, and planning skills
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills for managing people, negotiating, and working in a team environment.
  • Strive to complete all projects and tasks safely, accurately and in a timely manner
  • Individual must be a Citizen of the United States, or Permanent resident alien of the United States, or Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) (22 CFR §120.15.)
  • Must adhere to all Company policies

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be capable of sitting and using a computer for a considerable portion of an 8-hour workday AND must be capable of walking/standing for a considerable portion of an 8-hour workday.
  • Must be capable of walking throughout the facility and property to check on employees and equipment
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs to access and inspect equipment.
  • Must be able to crawl under or on top of equipment according to company safety guidelines
  • Must be able to physically wear personal protective equipment such as, but limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, respirator, and steel toe boots.
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to feel and manipulate materials and parts.
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds
  • Must be capable of travel
