The role:

Bring your management experience and join our team as a geo/hydro/environmental manager! In this position, you will manage the unit and provide direction to staff. You will also be responsible for developing project plans and specifications, managing budgets, providing training and supporting staff. Apply today!

A day in the life:

Provide leadership for each unit and program area by analyzing complex technical and personnel issues and interpreting policy.

Set policies and direction by defining how each unit and program meets the needs of customers and the agency and define the policies and standard operating procedures.

Plan, assign and coordinate work, develop long range and short range staffing and work scheduling plans and make sure project teams are staffed with key internal and external partners.

Develop and maintain cooperative work relationships with other program units, regulatory agencies, cities and counties.

Review natural resource reports and other unit work products and processes such as biological assessments and monitoring reports.

Secure state, federal and resource agency concurrence, approvals and permits.

Supervise natural resource work done through contracts and agreements with outside agencies or consultants.

Assist and review the environmental resource research and documentation work of local governments and consultants.

Ensure regulatory clearances and agency approvals are obtained according to project schedules, complete special assignments and setup programs to meet new or special needs.

Work with the statewide hazmat coordinator, safety manager and maintenance to ensure consistent training and to develop and implement a statewide hazmat program.

Assign geology, geotechnical and hydraulic engineering project work to ensure quality, standards and procedures are maintained.

Review project plans, goals, objectives, budgets and scopes with the project geologist, geotechnical and hydraulic engineers.

Work is mostly performed in an office environment but may require occasional exposure to coastal and river environments, overnight travel, emergency response and moving around unstable slopes, landslides, rock fall or in close proximity to traffic.

What we need:

Six years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience.

OR

Three years of related experience AND a bachelor's degree in a related field.

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
