Associate Scientist to Principal Scientist, Biology
Proclinical are recruiting an individual from Associate Scientist to Principal Scientist level to join a biology team for an exciting biotech organisation. This role is on a permanent basis and is located in Philadelphia, PA. This client is focused on discovery and development of disease-modifying therapies by harnessing natural protein homeostasis processes.

Responsibilities:

This is a lab-based role in the biology department, reporting to Director of Biology.

  • Apply state-of-the-art drug discovery approaches as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Lead the design, development, and execution of innovative cell-based assays to support progression of programs through all phases of drug discovery.
  • Analyse, interpret, summarise, and present research findings at project team meetings, leadership meetings, and external scientific conferences
  • Ensure data quality and data integrity.
  • Lead and contribute to target assessment endeavours.

Qualifications:

Required
  • M.S./B.S. with 8+ years of drug discovery experience in biotech and/or pharmaceutical companies.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently design, conduct, and analyse complex in vitro preclinical studies.
  • Experience in novel target discovery and validation, including contributing to multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in cell biology techniques such as mammalian cell culture, Western blotting, qPCR, siRNA/CRISPR knockdown, MSD/ELISA and flow cytometry.
  • Ability to mentor/guide junior scientists in the lab.
  • Ability to use routine laboratory software such as XLFit, GraphPad Prism, ELN etc.
  • Strong problem-solving ability in a science-driven organisation.
  • Ability to work independently, effectively collaborate and help lead in a team environment.
  • Ability to critically analyse, interpret and present data in a publication ready format with recommendations for next steps.

Desired
  • Knowledge in small molecule protein degradation via proteosome system and understanding in biology of ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS), heterobifunctional degraders or molecular glues.
  • Assay development expertise in protein degradation related cell-based assays (e.g., in-cell western or HiBit assays).
  • Experience with high-throughput cell-based assays, such as plate-reader based activity assays, reporter assays, high content imaging and assay automation.
  • Experience with developing small molecule preclinical data packages to support IND-readiness for first-in-human studies.
