Job Summary
We are seeking a Technical Trainer 2 for our Insourcing Solutions division in Frederick, MD . This position offers a $1500 Signing Bonus!!!

The following are responsibilities related to the Technical Trainer 2:

• Research, develop, perform and document relevant technical, husbandry and administrative training for employee training courses at the Charles River Training Center (CRTC).
• Coordinate training schedules and activities with Supervisor, Human Resources and Operations.
• Formulate teaching outlines and determine appropriate instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, demonstrations, meetings and workshops.
• Select and/or develop appropriate teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works.
• Evaluate and assess trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of technical training for the employee's level of knowledge and competency.
• Report on progress of employees during and following training sessions.
• Monitor trainee technical proficiency and facilitate on-the-spot corrections to observed skill deficiencies.
• Perform daily animal care responsibilities including, ordering, receiving, husbandry, veterinary care and health observations.
• Maintain accurate and complete training and teaching laboratory records and recommend improvements/changes to current policies and documentation.
• Perform technical services to include: handling and restraint, ear notching, tagging, breeding methodology, weaning and sexing, tissue and blood collection, injections, tail snips, pain scoring/alleviation measures, surgical pack preparation, surgical preparation, health observations, sterilization techniques, and drug dosage calculation.

The following are minimum qualifications related to the Technical Trainer 2 position:

Education: HSD or GED required. A.A/A.S or Certificate Program (e.g. US Army - Animal Care Specialist) in Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, Zoology or equivalent college level program preferred.
Experience: Minimum two years of previous training and successful "hands -on" experience of technical animal care procedures, plus an additional 3 years of lab animal science and/or veterinary technical job roles. Experience in the development of technical training programs and modules preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of the specific education and experience listed above.
Certification/Licensure: ALAT required; LAT preferred. Must achieve LAT within one year of hire/promotion.
Other: Ability to handle and manipulate common laboratory species including Mice, Rats, Nonhuman Primates, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, Gerbils & Rabbits. Knowledge of small and large animal biomethodology to include: breeding, common diseases, physical exams, anatomy, anesthesia, safe handling and restraint techniques, proper use of PPE, euthanasia, blood collection and injection techniques. Understanding of veterinary treatment administration, surgery/aseptic technique & anesthesia techniques.
