Job Description

The Structural Biology & Chemistry Department is seeking a highly motivated structural biologist to join our fast-growing program at the Foster City campus. The department has an advanced X-ray crystallography laboratory and is setting up a state-of-the-art cryo-EM facility with Glacios and Krios G4 microscopes.

Essential Qualifications:
  • PhD in Structural Biology with postdoctoral training in obtaining large macromolecular complex structures.
  • 2-5 years of experience working in the biopharmaceutical industry, with a proven track record in solving structures for both small molecule and biologics targets that are of therapeutic interest.
  • Knowledge of modern X-ray crystallography including construct design, protein expression & purification, characterization, crystallization, structure determination and analysis
  • Expertise in single particle cryo-EM including grids freezing and optimization, data collection and processing, three-dimensional reconstruction and model building. Experience in cryo-ET and/or micro-ED a plus.
  • Deep hands-on experience in running a highly efficient & productive cryo-EM facility in industrial settings, as well as demonstrated proficiency to train other scientists.
  • Excellent presentation (written & oral), collaboration, organization, communication and interpersonal skills to successfully operate in the matrixed environment of drug discovery project teams.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively on multiple, fast-paced programs to generate critical information for program advancement.
