Position Overview:

We are seeking an Associate Scientist to be part of a team focused on cell and genome engineering in the Genomic Medicine Unit. The successful candidate will play an important role to support the activities around various projects that involve genome editing technology as an approach for treatment of common or rare diseases.

Specifically, the remit of the candidate will be to:
  • Technically support genome editing team by independently contributing to laboratory-based activities.
  • Evaluate target editing using various types of analysis to evaluate DNA, mRNA and protein expression of targets.
  • Implement automation into all processes to drive efficiency throughout the gene editing process.
  • Collaborate across teams within the GMU
  • Acts as an impactful contributor in different projects in the group
  • Incorporates strong research integrity practices

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of science in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Genetics or related field with 2 years or greater laboratory experience, with a minimum of 1 year industry experience.
  • Prior experience working with genome editing applications required, including editing of primary human T cells and NK cells.
  • Prior experience working with liquid handlers and laboratory automation equipment is required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated independence with techniques such as PCR, qPCR, Envision-based assays and tumor-killing assays.
  • Driven and results-oriented, with a track record of contribution to research projects
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under supervision and to deliver well curated results on time
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the USA.
