HPLC-MS/MS Analytical Environmental - Senior Chemist II

Reporting to the Laboratory Director, the HPLC-MS/MS Analytical Environmental - Senior Chemist II will be responsible for daily production activities within their laboratory and on-time delivery of data for review and report production. Adherence to company Quality Systems, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Chemical Hygiene Plan, and all Health and Safety protocols is required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation and analysis of environmental samples for Volatile Organic Compounds in air, water, and soil; or preparation and analysis of environmental samples for PFAS compounds in drinking water, ground water, and soil
  • Upon completion of training, successful completion of an Initial Demonstration of Capability, and annual Continuing Demonstrations of Capability
  • Participating in company's Quality Program including, but not limited to Corrective and Preventative Actions
  • Comply with all Quality Assurance Protocols and SOPs
  • Instrument troubleshooting, maintenance, and basic repair
  • Mentoring and training of junior level staff
  • Other duties as assigned by laboratory management

Job Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry
  • Hands on experience with Agilent GC, GC/MS, and/or HPLC-MS/MS instrument operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance, including ChemStation and/or Mass Hunter software packages
  • Hands on experience with Entech and EST autosampler operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  • Extensive knowledge of EPA methodologies including, but not limited to EPA 8260 and EPA 537.1
  • Proficient with Promium Element or other LIMS
  • Recent experience with analytical method development and SOP writing for environmental sample analysis for emerging contaminants and PFAS
  • Ability to lead and manage small teams
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to multitask
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
