Overview

ATSS Engineering has a client in Louisiana looking for an Environmental Compliance Specialist.

This position could be worked in Mandeville, Harvey or Lockport

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS

Ability to interpret federal, state, and local environmental laws, rules, and regulations as they apply to the shipbuilding and repair business.
Develops, implements, and monitors Company environmental policies and procedures.
Provides recommendations on program improvements based on regulation, inspection, and permit/plan compliance.
Participates in external inspections as requested.
Reviews Company operations and inspects individual facilities for compliance with provisions of federal, state, and local regulations as well as Company environmental policies and procedures.
Provides guidance and training on established and approved Company environmental policies and procedures to facility environmental staff.
Approves media correspondence (i.e. applications, permit correspondence, reporting, and inspection response) to regulatory agencies.
Provides and increases environmental awareness throughout the company.
MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Engineering or related technical field preferred.
Knowledge and experience with computers, i.e., Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Knowledge of Oracle a plus.
Good communication skills, including written and oral communication.
Capable of performing duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision.
Able to delegate responsibilities and initiate new and improved management procedures.
Ability to impart knowledge to individuals or groups through the design, preparation and delivery of training
Ideal candidate must have 1- 2 years of related experience and/or training and a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
