Northwest Resource Law PLLC (NRL) seeks an environmental and natural resource associate attorney with 1 to 3 years of experience to join its Seattle office.
NRL consists of self-starting and driven legal professionals who are passionate about solving complex problems for its environmental and natural resource clients. Typical matters that you may be asked to assist with include:

Representing companies and trade associations engaged in all aspects of the forest products sector, including forestland owners, manufacturing facilities, loggers, and various other contractors.
Representing various companies and individuals who own or are involved with remediation of contaminated properties. This includes working to solve complicated superfund issues, as well as assisting companies in complying with multifaceted environmental regulations.
Representing companies in the forest products, fisheries, maritime, and other natural resources fields that want to site their facilities or expand their operations. This includes preparing environmental permitting documents and defending permits in the event they are challenged by outside groups.
Defending against citizen suits or other claims brought against our clients under the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, Clean Air Act, or other statutes.
Intervening in litigation that is likely to implicate the business interests of our clients, including policies that impact forest products, aquaculture, fisheries, land use, or natural resources.

Benefits:
NRL offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits program, including medical and dental plans (covering 100% of employee premiums and 75% of dependent premiums), annual 3% employer safe harbor 401(k) contribution, profit sharing eligibility, tuition reimbursement, parental leave, paid time off, and flexibility to split time between working from home and in the office.
Deadlines:
Resumes, writing samples, and personal statements will be accepted through Friday, April 29, 2022.
Equal Opportunity Employer:
NRL is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity in the workplace. We believe that enhancing opportunities for diverse professionals in the environmental and natural resource legal profession and fostering equity and inclusion are essential to the vitality of our firm, the community, and the clients we serve.
Requirements:
Candidates should understand business and legal constraints facing resource industries in Washington and Oregon and be interested in learning how to work creatively to find solutions to those problems. They should have familiarity and ideally prior experience with the range of federal and state environmental regulatory frameworks, including the Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act, CERCLA, state forest practice rules, and various permitting regimes.
Ideal candidates should demonstrate a strong work ethic, exceptional written and oral communication skills, superior attention to detail, and excellent academic credentials. Success at NRL includes the ability to manage changing priorities, the capability to manage and meet several, often concurrent deadlines, a desire to work both independently and as a high-functioning team member, and an interest in complex environmental and natural resource issues in the Pacific Northwest. Applicants who have been or are currently committed to a clerkship are encouraged to apply.recblid dkwb0hz7mwefowq8ld8xrl110baqyw
