Position Summary

The Cell Therapy Drug Product Process Development group is seeking an enthusiastic, self-driven individual to join its innovation-focused, multi-disciplinary development team that is focused on advancing new products and enabling technologies. This role will be part of a team of associates, engineers, and scientists that develop processes and technologies for manufacturing and cryopreserving T-cell therapies. The successful candidate will contribute to experimental design, execute experiments, analyze data, draft technical documents and reports, and present results to a broad audience.

Qualifications and Experience:

Assistant Scientist: Bachelor's degree in bio/chemical engineering, biochemistry or a related scientific field with 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Wet lab experience (does not include classroom experience) - requirement
  • Familiar with mammalian cell culture
  • Familiar with experimental protocol execution and documentation (design and analysis a plus)
  • Basic knowledge of cell therapy
  • Aseptic technique
  • Experience with maintaining lab notebook and lab workspace
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organization

Associate Scientist: Bachelor's degree in bio/chemical engineering, biochemistry or a related scientific field with 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture
  • Experience with experimental design, analysis, and documentation
  • Basic knowledge of cell therapy
  • Aseptic technique
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience with maintaining lab notebook and lab workspace
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organization

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine laboratory operations such as cell culture maintenance, sampling for cell counts, preparing reagents and cell culture media
  • Perform cryopreservation specific laboratory operations including controlled rate freezing, temperature tracking, sample cycling, storage and organization of samples stored in liquid nitrogen freezers, and thawing.
  • Working in a highly collaborative cross-functional matrix environment
  • Presentation of experimental findings/results following study completion
  • Aid in design and creation of phase-appropriate process development study plans
  • Coordinate and manage sample transfer activities between various functional groups
  • Timely and thorough documentation and completion of electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Perform simple statistical data analysis where applicable
  • Presentation of experimental findings/results following study completion
  • Author reports detailing experimental work and summarizing results
  • Supporting lab functions-including, but not limited to restocking consumables, maintaining equipment and cleaning
  • Manage and maintain databases
  • Flexibility with work schedule as maintenance of cell cultures on occasional weekends, early mornings, or evenings is required
  • Up to 5% of time may be spent travelling outside of the city or country.
