Overview:
POSITION SUMMARY The Microbiologist will maintain product quality by conducting microbiology associated tests and monitoring on the manufacturing and packaging environments and systems while adhering to cGMP guidelines. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS General laboratory operations including ordering supplies, preparing media, disinfectant preparation, operating laboratory equipment, sample receipt, note booking data following good documentation practices. Environmental monitoring of classified areas including incubation of samples, reading of results. Environmental monitoring activities include by not limited to contact plates, settle plates, viable/non-viable counts, and personnel monitoring.Support aseptic processing in a clean room environment including the ability to aseptically gown in and monitor the controlled classified environmentParticipate in biological indicator testing and readingProvide technical support to media fills activitiesSample the water systems and perform the microbiology testing on water samples: Bioburden and Bacterial Endotoxin testingDaily monitoring of temperature of laboratory equipment, weekly temperature chart replacementsPerform quality control microbiology testing on incoming organisms, media, reagents, etcClean and maintain laboratory equipmentSupport cleaning validation activities, bioburden testing of cleaning validation swab samplesDocumentation of results and data entry as per SOPsFollow the proper procedures for handling hazardous and biological wasteCoordinate sample shipping to external laboratories, and review/approve test resultsPerform other work-related duties as assigned

Responsibilities:
Environmental monitoring / gown qualification experience preferredGood adherence to USP , , and USP testing Strong attention to detail, good time management skills Work schedule flexibility, including occasional weekend availabilityMust be able ascend and descend laddersMust be able to lift/carry 20-25lbsRequired to wear personal protective equipment including a respiratorMust be able to move about the facilityMust be able to remain sedentary for periods of timeKnowledge of basic Microsoft Excel and Word

Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree - BS/BA in Biology or Microbiology preferred; BS/BA in alternate field with equivalent experience and training EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years related experience.
