Overview:
Conduct microbiologist testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products. Collect and test environmental and water samples. Performs microbiological assays, stability testing, and calibration of instruments and equipment. Provide necessary information to Lab Manager regarding the status of testing. Prepares media needed for testing including growth promotion and sterility check. Anticipates media needs and keeps lab stocked to meet testing demands for production and manufacturing. Perform and document assigned maintenance, calibration duties, and cleaning duties both daily and weekly. Enter information concerning raw material and finished products in the appropriate logbooks and LIMS. This position works 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday with flexible start time (6 AM - 8AM).

Responsibilities:
Conduct microbiology testing of raw materials, finished products, and in process samples.Conduct microbiological assays for vitamins in finished products and raw materials.Collection, testing, trending and reporting of environmental and water samples.Participate in routine lab operations: lab inventory, sterilization, and decontamination.Responsible for final reporting of microbiology results in notebooks and LIMS.Participate in training of new associates.Participate in routine media preparation. Including detail documentation of media ingredients.Perform and document assigned maintenance and calibration duties: Including schedules for equipment calibration to meet due dates, and keep records/certificates of calibration audit ready.Performed and document assigned cleaning duties.Assist in Logging in samples for testing.Provide necessary information to Manager or Lead regarding the status of testing.Participate in Microbiological investigations, including: initiating investigations, gathering samples, testing, data reporting and organizing for OOS report.Write and update Standard Operation Procedures and Work Instructions.Accurately record and document results. Expected to complete documentation for assigned duties in a timely manner and legible when documentation is handwritten. Must follow documentation guidelines for cGMP industry.Keep accurate records and follow instructions and comply with company policies.Ensure and adhere to highest quality and efficiency standards in laboratory operations.Ability to work independently and as part of a team, to include participation in assigned projects.Ability to prioritize tasks/testing to support the release of products needed for manufacturing.Ensure coverage and performance of the Microbiology Lab to meet production and manufacturing schedules.Knowledge of microbiological principles including but not limited to aseptic techniques, media preparation and quality principles.Responsible for maintaining instrumentation in working order and ensuring that supplies/reagents/standards required to perform testing are available.Participate in projects including special testing.Off shift personnel are required to leave written (email) communication for manager and co-workers.

Qualifications:
2-3 years' experience in a laboratory settingProficient in Microsoft office applicationsPrior experience working in a FDA Regulated Environment 2-4 years' experience in a Microbiology Laboratory.Specific Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesFamiliarity with standard concepts, practices and procedures in the field of Microbiology. In depth knowledge of raw material, formulations, microbiological test procedures as well as the ability to develop and improve laboratory procedures.Must possess a demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team based environment.Possess ability to learn new concepts and procedures quickly, attention to detail, and able to prioritize work projects. Fluent with Microsoft Office (excel, Word, Outlook)
