American Academy is a Monday-Friday hybrid education program; our students attend project-based classes 2-3 days per week and work at home on the other days. We are seeking several multi-subject teachers, grades K-8 for the 2022-2023 school year. Our classes are small, with a maximum of 8-14 students. We have two campuses; one in Mission Viejo near Saddleback College and the other in Newport Beach near John Wayne Airport. Teacher would be required to work 2 days at one location and 3 days at the other.
We find that students learn best through both an independent study curriculum that meets the state standards and is targeted to their exact learning pace and ability as well as through hands-on/ project-based classes that also meet the state standards. We also find that multi-age classrooms, parent involvement, community interactions, school traditions, and developing real-life skills are important elements in ensuring students' success.

Responsibilities:
Three head teacher positions available: Grades K-1, 2-3, 4-8; Spanish Teacher, and Substitute Teacher positions also available.
Possibility of advancement to Director/ Administration positions.
Teach two cohorts of students each week; one at each campus.
Teaching all core academics subjects, including: Math, Social Studies, English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Life Skills, plus fun electives based on interest, which can include classes such as Fine Arts, Marine Biology, Coding, Passport Around the World, STEM, etc
Engaging children in project-based learning.
Creating an organized, positive classroom environment in which students are supported and nurtured both academically and socially.
Creating an inclusive classroom environment through regular class meetings, supportive exchanges with students and clear expectations for behavior.
Collaborate with other teachers in planning and teaching a challenging course of study in a developmentally appropriate manner, with an emphasis on differentiating instruction and using assessments effectively including field trips and special projects.
Working and communicating effectively with parents in formal and informal conferences, written reports, and class newsletters.
Supporting and following the school policies.
Being a positive and contributing member of the professional community.
Minimum Qualification:
A bachelor's degree or equivalent in years of experience (in Education or core subject preferred)
Completed teaching credential classes preferred but actual teaching credential not required
3 years of previous teaching experience preferred
Understanding of lesson planning and syllabus development preferred
Collaborative work ethic
English required
Excellent written and oral communication
Must provide impeccable personal references
Must maintain an impeccable personal social media presence, if any
Must be willing to respond to urgent texts and email during off-hours
We are only considering individuals who are committed to being in this position for a full school year or more
Positions:
We are looking for part-time teachers. Pay range is $17-22/ hour depending on experience and education. Our school year runs September through June with a possible summer camp program.

Salary: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
