Twentyeight-Seven Therapeutics is looking for a full-time Director/Sr. Director (dependent on qualifications) to lead and develop our growing Biology group. This individual will utilize their strong technical expertise, critical thinking, and management skills to lead the company's drug discovery efforts, including target validation, lead generation/optimization and in vivo pharmacology.

  • Provide organizational leadership of Biology group (from target ID to development candidate), coordinating efforts with Chemistry, Biochemistry/Screening, and Informatics groups
  • Recruit, guide, and mentor staff, with attention to career development
  • Provide technical leadership of Biology drug discovery group to identify, validate and elucidate the driving biology of novel targets, including proteins and enzymes involved in RNA and/or DNA processing and sensing, in relevant in vitro and in vivo disease models; with the goal of ultimately progressing to clinical candidate
  • Anticipate and plan for possible outcomes, considering trade-off decisions and demonstrating scientific objectivity
  • Stay abreast of the latest scientific and competitive advances
  • Generate scientific strategies, department goals, timelines & budget
  • Clearly articulate group plans, activities, and results to group and senior management
  • Work with team to select and manage contract research organizations (CRO) for outsourced activities as needed

  • Ph.D. with 7+ years drug discovery experience in biology, molecular biology, oncology, and/or immunology
  • Exceptional management and mentorship skills
  • Demonstrated scientific rigor in cancer biology and/or inflammation/autoimmune diseases
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with attention to detail
  • Motivated, independent self-starter comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment
  • Previous supervisory experience in a group setting required
