Job Description

Job Description

The Research Laboratories Exploratory Science Center (ESC) is a disease-agnostic, early discovery research center located within the Cambridge innovation hub in MA. The Experimental Biology group at the ESC combines scientists with diverse backgrounds to drive platform development and its applications to address novel biological questions and enable target identification and validation.

We are seeking a candidate to join our team to work on applying cellular chemistry-based methods to uncover novel biology and contribute to the identification of potential druggable targets. The candidate will work with cross-functional teams across different therapeutic areas to move science forward and drive projects to completion.

Key Responsibilities

The candidate will:
  • Plan, execute, and interpret results of experiments using chemical biology-based platforms to profile cellular microenvironments.
  • Develop functional assays to enable novel target identification and validation.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams.
  • Drive several projects simultaneously and communicate research findings effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Be self-motivated, creative, stay current with the relevant scientific literature, and open to learn new skills in a nimble, fast-paced environment.

Required Education
  • Ph.D. in Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or related field.

Required Experience and Skills
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, western blotting, and multiparameter flow cytometry.
  • Experience developing assays for functional validation.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Preferred
  • Experience with cell engineering and genetic perturbation techniques.
  • Proficient immunology background.
  • Experience with bioconjugation methods.
  • Experience with mass-spectrometry-based proteomics and single-cell sequencing data analysis.
