Title: Scientist- Biology
Pay Rate: $100-$140k depending on experience
Location: San Francisco, CA
Type: Salary Position

Duties and Responsibilities

Establish quantitative biochemical and/or biophysical assays of novel protein targets for identification and characterization of chemical leads
Develop quantitative, target-specific cell-based assays and validate the on-target activity of chemical leads
Collaborate across disciplines to drive SAR of small-molecule hits/leads
Contribute to the design and execution of small-molecule screens to identify novel inhibitors
Use genetic techniques (e.g. siRNA, CRISPR) to validate novel cancer targets
Manage research collaborations with external CROs

Qualifications

PhD in chemical biology, cancer biology, biochemistry, biophysics, cell biology or related discipline with 0 - 5 years post-doctoral or pharma/biotech experience is required
Demonstrated hands-on experience in designing, executing and analyzing biochemical and cell-based mechanism of action experiments is required
A deep understanding of the biological pathways that drive cancer cells is required
Demonstrated hands-on experience in the use of genetic methods for interrogating biological targets (CRISPR, shRNA, siRNA)
Experience in designing and executing small-molecule screens to identify novel chemical inhibitors is highly desired
Experience working in a matrixed research environment to rapidly advance small-molecule leads is highly desired
Creativity, good communication, and excellent interpersonal skills are required
Scientific breadth and flexibility to adapt to changing project needs are required
