Salary Schedule

To develop, monitor and supervise the implementation of behavioral programs for severely disabled students; and to provide assistance to district and school personnel in the effective management of students with severe behavior problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Masters degree in Behavior Analysis or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certification in Behavior Analysis (either Board Certified Behavior Analyst as designated by BCBA or Florida Certified Behavior Analyst as designated by FL-CBA).
  • Three (3) years of experience in applied behavior analysis and/or behavior management.
  • Demonstrated success working with and through people in establishing goals, objectives and action plans to produce expected goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and perform clinical behavior analysis with a wide variety of behavioral problems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of teaching and learning processes. Knowledge of clinical behavior analysis and a wide variety of behavioral problems. Knowledge of organization and management theory and practice. Knowledge and commitment to decentralized decision making and accountability for results that facilitate creative processes toward achievement of district expected goals. Knowledge and understanding of the distinction between line and staff positions and functions within an organization. Ability to work and communicate effectively with people to focus resources (both human and financial) toward the achievement of district expected results. Ability to facilitate group processes in consensus building, conflict resolution, planning and decision-making. Understands that quality teaching and learning are the essential processes and product of public schools and has the ability to focus human and financial resources toward this goal.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Describes physical conditions of this position.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:

Physical activities of this position. Percent of a typical day involved in each applicable activity is noted.

50 Sitting: Resting with the body supported by the buttocks or thighs.

25 Standing: Assuming an upright position on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.

10 Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.

10 Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

5 Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position through the use of the upper extremities and back muscles exerting up to 10 pounds of force.

80 Finger Dexterity: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm.

90 Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed accurately, loudly or quickly.

90 Hearing Acuity: The ability to perceive speech and other environmental sounds at normal loudness levels.

90 Visual Acuity: The power to see at a level which allows reading of numbers and text, operation of equipment, inspection of machines, etc.

Note: Will total more than 100 percent as several activities may be performed at one time.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Conditions the worker will be subject to in this position.

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

Depending on program of assignment, tasks may present potential for exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as bodily fluids, dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature extremes, animals/wildlife, or violence.

Due to student and personal safety, attire and personal hygiene (i.e. nail length) may be impacted by student need.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manifests a professional code of ethics and values as described by both Orange County Public Schools and the National Association of Behavior Analysis Certification Board.
  • Respond to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathic manner representing OCPS in a positive light.
  • Models the routine, intentional and effective use of technology in daily work, including communications, organization and management tasks.
  • Conduct behavioral assessments, collect data, select treatment procedures, identify restricted intervention procedures, implement specific intervention procedures, write and monitor intervention plans, and implement procedures designed to achieve proficiency, maintenance and generalization.
  • Review intervention plans and approve the same for implementation, revise the same prior to implementation, or reject the same as inappropriate for implementation.
  • Attend educational planning meetings and provide consultation regarding the appropriate use of behavioral procedures or the appropriateness of certain behavioral procedures for specific children.
  • Provide expert testimony at formal hearings regarding the appropriateness or the implementation of certain behavioral procedures.
  • Implement emergency seclusion and restraint of student/child as needed and in adherence with all state and federal guidelines.
  • Provide feedback and assessment of services as perceived by users of the services.
  • Provide in-service training to administrators, teachers, and parents on selected topics (e.g., basic behavior principles, basic teaching methodologies, noncompliance, disruptive behavior, aggressive behavior, self-injurious behavior, and stereotypic behavior).
  • Follow the districts policies and procedures as related to all HRMD guidelines and the districts instructional initiatives.
  • Follow the districts policies and procedures as related to fixed assets.
  • Develop professional skills in the area of behavior analysis and leadership skills in subordinates.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology being used by OCPS. With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
  • Responsible for maintaining timely and accurate information and accountable for the quality of information maintained by those they supervise.
  • Responsible for self-development and keeping up to date on current research, trends and best practices relevant to the area of responsibility.
