Assistant Professor of Practice Civil & Environmental Engineering

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cleveland State University invites applicants for an Assistant Professor of Practice non-tenure track position in the area of Civil Engineering with an emphasis on construction management beginning on August 22, 2022 or January 2, 2023. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is one of 5 departments within the Washkewicz College of Engineering at Cleveland State University. The Assistant Professor of Practice position is a permanent position with a succession path. Applicants are expected to teach a wide variety of undergraduate civil engineering courses and labs, and a wide variety of courses in the developing construction management curriculum.

Minimum Qualifications

As a minimum, applicants must possess

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
Master's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related fields
Ten years of non-academic professional engineering experience (a doctorate degree in engineering will count as 5 years toward professional experience)

Preferred Qualifications

An earned Doctorate degree in Engineering with specialization in Civil Engineering or closely related fields,
Ability to teach surveying, surveying lab, construction planning/principles, senior design, statics, strength of materials and strength of materials laboratory, undergraduate civil engineering courses, graduate-level construction management, and/or civil Engineering courses
Excellent communication skills
Professional experience in the construction industry or similar experience
Professional licensure and certifications related to construction (e.g., licensed engineer, professional surveyor's license, contractor or construction licensure, certified construction manager, etc.)
Skills in project planning, construction management, building science and technologies, and/or computer applications
The ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.
Professional engineer registration.
