Global Lab Lead, Environmental, Health, and Safety
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental/public health or safety science/engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 10 years of experience in EHS, with 7 years of experience in implementation of EHS Laboratory/Research and Development Management
  • 7 years of experience in operations working with teams in a matrixed environment
  • 7 years of experience conducting design review

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree in scientific/technical field or related degree
  • Certified Radiation Safety Officer, Laser Safety Officer, and/or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager
  • Experience with design review for laboratory build-outs
  • Experience in developing and implementing Environmental Health and Safety programs, procedures, associated training, guidance documents, and job aids
  • Ability to create Key Performance Indicators for program monitoring
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills using a data informed approach
About the job
As a key enabler of our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) vision and delivering upon our collective mission, you will have the opportunity in this role to oversee the design, development, and delivery of our global EHS Laboratory Safety Program. Partnering closely with our global program leads and subject matter experts, you will be responsible for coordinating efforts across our diverse team and together with peer functions to ensure that our policies, processes, and procedures are integrated with our product areas in a fit-for-purpose and streamlined manner. You will work with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, agile environment that requires a risk based, data-driven, and agile approach to systems design and implementation. You will be curious and constantly learning, benchmarking along the way to compare with other organizations in our pursuit to deliver a leading global program.

From keeping Googlers safe and secure to managing disruptive events, the ability to anticipate, deter, detect, and act are the pillars of Google's Global Security and Resilience Services (GSRS) team. As a member of GSRS you will help develop a culture where safety, security and resiliency are integrated into every facet of Google, including the creative process. You will help us continually identify, evaluate and monitor enterprise risks that could affect business activities and provide business leaders the information they need to make critical decisions. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to create innovative strategies and develop programs that drive sustainable effectiveness.
Responsibilities
  • Manage, design, development, and deployment of the global Lab Safety Program, in alignment with the EHS Management System, and broader business objectives.
  • Work with regional team members, product areas, and product stewardship to develop and integrate functional safety solutions into operations while promoting safe work practices based on regulatory requirements and best management practices.
  • Oversee development of educational material (e.g., program documentation, training, SOPs, and other documents to support initiatives) and implementation of technology systems to assist with the scalability and tracking of Research Safety Programs at the global level.
  • Conduct safety and regulatory risk assessments, write reports as needed, develop and implement corrective strategies.
  • Investigate, compile information, conduct Root Cause Analysis, determine causes, identify corrective actions, and write investigation reports on any incident/accident that may occur.
