OPPORTUNITY

Environmental Incentives seeks to hire an Associate for the Latin America and Caribbean Environment Services Support Contract (LAC ESSC). Under this project, we are working with USAID to strengthen its design, management, and evaluation of regional and bilateral environment, resilience, and energy programs in the Latin America & Caribbean region.

In this role, you will provide operational support to the LAC ESSC project. You will manage processes and resources related to staffing, work planning, financial management, and knowledge sharing. You will support the design, socialization and roll out of standard operating procedures for the project. You will also participate in specific initiatives that call upon varied skills such as project management, meeting facilitation, research, and writing to support delivery of excellent client service.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational and administrative management of the LAC ESSC contract
  • Collaboratively plans and implements activities to ensure the current and future health and well-being of the contract (eg. support for staffing and recruiting, standard operating procedures, and work planning).
  • Develops and/or manages processes and information systems in support of ongoing project activities.
  • Supports the development and implementation of finance, accounting, and administrative systems and procedures.
  • Supports the development of appropriate subcontracting agreements, consulting agreements, employment agreements, and any associated agreement modifications. Assists in tracking consultant and subcontractor spending in line with allotted budgets.  
  • Supports the development and rollout of project deliverables such as work plans, monthly meetings, yearly retreats, annual reports, synthesis of findings, etc.
  • Supports the Program Manager in scoping and production processes and support coordination efforts across larger team as needed. 
  • Builds the capacity of Activity Leads and Associates to manage and communicate about activity budgets and financials
  • Assists with research, knowledge management, and data management to provide inputs to products related to environment, resilience, and energy issues in the LAC region.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as international studies, business and public administration or biodiversity conservation and/or environmental studies, and 3+ years relevant experience; Master's degree and 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated operational experience managing multiple tasks and consultants, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Professional working proficiency in Spanish and English (written and verbal communication skills). Professional working proficiency is defined as being:
    • Able to use the language effectively in most formal and informal written exchanges on practical, social and professional topics.
    • Able to speak the language with sufficient structural accuracy and vocabulary to participate effectively in most conversations on practical, social, and professional topics.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in international development, and with USAID or other donors
  • Cross-cultural competence and experiences working, living, or studying in other countries
  • Experience with event planning and facilitation of meetings, both in-person and virtual
  • Experience using the Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation
  • Experience with systems thinking approach to development
  • Experience using quantitative analysis, statistical and mapping tools, online project workflows and data displays

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Highly organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English, as well as strong facilitation and copy-editing skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, a problem-solving approach and adaptability - an eagerness to assist others, and flexibility in taking on the work at hand.
  • Professional working proficiency in Portuguese is an asset
  • Advanced to expert knowledge of MS Office suite (particularly MS Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel) and Google Suite (Gcal, Google Drive, Sheets, Docs).
  • Strong process management skills and ability to produce quality products as scheduled
  • Willingness to be available outside of regular office hours for international calls and other time-sensitive tasks (approximately 2-4 times per month).
  • Ability to collaborate with, listen to, respect, and celebrate the contributions of others, including others of different cultural backgrounds
  • Problem-solving orientation and growth mindset

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States with no restrictions
  • Criminal background check required

BASE STATION AND COVID-19 POLICY

The position will be based in Washington, DC or remotely, but available to work during DC business hours. If located remotely, the staff member agrees to travel to the DC office up to at least once per calendar quarter, with costs of travel covered by EI.

Proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 or legally authorized exemption is required for all Environmental Incentives employees working in the United States, regardless of office location or remote work. Selected candidates will be required to provide proof of full vaccination before beginning employment with Environmental Incentives. Full vaccination is defined as 2 weeks after the final dose of the requisite vaccination.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The starting salary range for this position is $57,500-$74,375 per year if located in Washington, DC. If located remotely, the salary range for this position is $51,750-$66,938. Environmental Incentives also offers a competitive benefits package that includes:
