The Norris Cotton Cancer Center (NCCC) at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health and the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth invite outstanding board-certified/board-eligible lab-based physician-scientists to apply for an Assistant Professor faculty position within the interdepartmental Cancer Biology and Therapeutics Research Program of NCCC.
We seek an enthusiastic and collaborative individual who will develop an innovative laboratory-based program in translational cancer research focused on elucidating new oncogenic mechanisms and/or developing novel therapeutic approaches. Candidates that use modern genetic, biochemical, pharmacological, bioinformatic, or other innovative approaches to achieve these research goals are encouraged to apply. Exceptional candidates at senior ranks may also be considered.
As one of 51 NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers, NCCC offers a dynamic and interactive research and clinical environment with a commitment to research excellence. The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art research facilities and a vibrant, multi-disciplinary Cancer Biology graduate student training program. NCCC members benefit from highly collaborative and collegial interactions across the entirety of Dartmouth College and the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health System, inclusive of other departments at Geisel, the School of Arts & Sciences, the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies, the Thayer School of Engineering, and the Tuck School of Business. In addition to interactions within NCCC, candidates may benefit additionally from three existing NIH Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBREs).
Successful candidates are expected to develop and advance an independent research program in translational cancer biology. Expectations for teaching and mentoring are a part of this role, and individuals will be provided with such opportunities through membership in the Molecular and Cellular Biology (which includes the Cancer Biology Program track) and/or Quantitative Biomedical Sciences PhD graduate programs. A generous start-up package including 80% protected research time, as well as access to state-of-the-art research facilities, will be provided. Departmental appointment(s) will be determined by the candidate's clinical training and desired area of practice.
Applicants should upload a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement of research accomplishments and goals that emphasizes the clinical relevance of their research (not to exceed 3 pages), a teaching statement, and the names of three referees who can provide letters of recommendation. Application review will remain open and continue until the position is filled. Dartmouth and Dartmouth-Hitchcock are highly committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive population of students, faculty, and staff. We are especially interested in applicants who are able to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds, including but not limited to: racial and ethnic minorities, women, individuals who identify with LGBTQ+ communities, veterans, individuals with disabilities, individuals from lower income backgrounds, and/or first-generation college graduates. Applicants should state in their cover letter how their research, service, teaching, and/or life experiences prepare them to advance Dartmouth's commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Dartmouth, Dartmouth-Hitchcock and NCCC are located in the picturesque Upper Connecticut River Valley on the New Hampshire/Vermont Border and are surrounded by a vibrant academic and professional community offering excellent schools, lively arts, and an unmatched quality of life, in a beautiful rural setting. Additional amenities associated with urban areas in Boston MA, Burlington VT, and Montreal, QC are all within a few hours' drive.

Candidates should hold an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D degree (or equivalent), have completed relevant clinical and postdoctoral research experience and be board certified or board eligible in their medical or surgical specialty.
