Position Summary:
This role is based in Washington, D.C. and will represent the company before administrative agencies, Congress, and key stakeholders. Primary policy responsibilities of this role are at the intersection of public policy, sustainability, and climate change. It will involve extensive interaction with Bunge's global sustainability team, industry associations and various stakeholder groups.
Help lead Bunge's engagement on key sustainability and climate policy areas impacting the global commodity supply chain, food industry, and other Bunge businesses. Provide thought leadership and advice to Bunge businesses on engagement with key sustainability public policy stakeholders. Explore opportunities to broaden Bunge's messaging with policymakers on company's industry leading sustainability initiatives. Build relationships and work with foreign government embassies from regions of the world key to Bunge's commercial footprint. Openness to engaging on important policy areas beyond sustainability and climate.
Building relationships with internal stakeholders is the foundation for success in this role. Understanding the business needs of internal stakeholders drives the focus of the government affairs function. The role requires building relationships with Congressional offices, Administration officials, and key external stakeholders.
Core Functions:
Federal affairs
Industry and stakeholder engagement
Strategy and policy formation and implementation
Internal communications (e.g. policy papers, issue/event briefings, memorandums, etc)
Skills/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required
10+ years professional experience
Extensive experience in agricultural companies and/or organizations strongly preferred
Background working in sustainability/climate areas as they intersect with food and ag production is require
Proven track record of being able to work across political spectrum and wide-array of ag/food stakeholders
International experience working abroad in government or non-government organization a plus
