Hourly Rate: $16.00 Job Description San Antonio Water System Water Conservation Internship Looking for a rewarding opportunity to get "hands-on" experience with the largest water provider in San Antonio? The San Antonio Water System (SAWS) provides a unique environment where you will experience just that! Our Conservation Department is seeking enthusiastic interns. The SAWS Internship Program offers educational and work experience that will provide a base of knowledge that you can build on throughout your life. Interns may work around their class schedules committing at least several four-hour blocks of time per week during the Summer and Fall. Interns will need to work during core business hours 8-5. Note: Interns are not to work over 29 hours in a work week (Monday through Friday). The Conservation Department deploys a wide range of incentive and education programs aimed at helping customers better manage their water usage. Interns will help in deploying these programs. Some of their essential functions will include: * Using program management software to assess customer applications and process them quickly. * Assisting field staff as they provide Conservation Consultation services at homes and businesses. * Fielding customer questions about programs, regulations and other conservation related matters. * Ensuring that data from programs is entered into the program management software quickly and accurately. Students interested in the SAWS College Internship Program should possess the following minimum requirements: * Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree. A wide range of degree programs are of interests and students may come from Environmental Studies, Geography, Business, Marketing or other areas. * Must have experience with basic MS Office programs, specifically Access and Excel. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Must be self- motivated and organized. * Must have access to a vehicle for use during working hours. * Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License. Preferred: * Prior work history that demonstrates and ability to interact with customers in person or by phone * Experience using data to draw conclusions. This might be through paid work or academic assignments * GIS experience is a plus * Demonstrated interest in the conservation programs offered by San Antonio Water System Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Physical requirements include lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally. Subject to standing, sitting, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, and kneeling, a for periods of time to perform job scope. Working conditions are primarily indoors with work assignments outside that will be exposed to inclement weather conditions and heavy traffic, animals, and insects. Also operates a personal vehicle on as needed.
