What will you do?

Work as part of a cross-functional drug-discovery team to identify and validate novel oncology targets and small molecule drug candidates. The role is lab based and includes developing and conducting cellular assays to support drug discovery efforts.

What will be your responsibilities?

Specific duties include:

Independently design and execute experiments to elucidate mechanistic biology of potential drug targets and mechanism of action of small molecule inhibitors;
Carry out a wide range of cell-based assays using cell lines, primary cells and 3D cultures, and state-of-the-art molecular biology techniques and implement new technologies as they become available;
Use genomic or genome editing approaches to assess gene function (CRISPR and shRNA) and for the development of cell lines (CRISPR knock-in, lenti/retro-virus and RNP);
Conduct data processing, interpretation and presentation in various forums;
Perform extension and diversification of internal capabilities through interaction with Contract Research Organizations as well as external industry and academic collaborators;
Work in close collaboration with bioinformatics group towards the discovery of novel oncology targets.
5% Travel necessary to attend international scientific conferences

Job Details

What basic qualifications do we require?

PhD degree (or foreign equivalent) in cell biology or cancer biology or a related field of study and three years of experience conducting biomedical research in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry. Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include:

Two (2) years of experience working with bioinformatics group to identify novel oncology targets and biomarkers.
Two (2) years of experience interrogating cellular and molecular mechanisms to validate novel oncology targets and identify potential drug candidates.
Two (2) years of experience screening for drug candidates using cell-based assays.
One (1) year of experience with genome editing technique (e.g. CRISPR knock-in).
One (1) year of experience with mechanism of action studies (e.g. cell death studies).
One (1) year of experience with cell lines, primary cells and 3D culture.
One (1) year of experience managing studies at Contract Research Organizations.
