Description:
•We are seeking a highly-motivated and experienced cell culturist to contribute to our research and discovery efforts to develop therapies for sight-threatening disease.
•S/he/they will be responsible for differentiating, characterizing, maintaining, and performing experiments with various cell culture model systems, including immortalized cell lines, primary cells, induced pluripotent stem cell (IPSc)-derived differentiated cells, and organoids.
•This position exists within a highly-collaborative environment, supporting multiple projects.
•The successful candidate will apply their passion, attention to detail, prior hands-on experience, and teamwork skills to support the Eye Care pipeline.
Responsibilities:
•Independently perform routine and complex cell culture techniques
•Independently perform cell-based assays and experiments with a wide range of endpoints
•Generate and document high-quality experimental data to identify and confirm the mechanism of action of lead compounds, antibodies, and gene therapies
•Present data and findings to a variety of audiences, including project teams and extended research and discovery organization meetings
•Maintain an up-to-date understanding of new technologies and relevant scientific advances in support of our research goals
•Effectively collaborate with peers and teams
•On-site position with flexible schedule with rotating weekend and holiday work
Qualifications:
•Bachelors or Masters in molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, neurobiology, or other biological science with 2-5+(BS) or 0+(MS) years of hands-on experience
•Demonstrated hands-on experience in cell culture, as well as cell and molecular biology techniques, including viability assays, transfection, PCR, and gel electrophoresis
•Previous experience in cell sorting (FACS and/or MACS) preferred
•Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with audiences of diverse backgrounds
•Highly motivated, self-driven and results-oriented person, comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment
•Demonstrate high degree of flexibility in adapting to different projects and personalities as well as excellent networking and relationship-building skills
