The Environmental Health Safety and Sustainability Manager will be supporting the Port Washington, NY (Administration and R&D activities) Office, Field Service and Sales teams. This person will develop, implement, maintain, monitor and continuously improve EHS&S programs, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local Regulatory Requirements.
Essential Job Functions: Ensures compliance with all state, federal and local governmental EHS regulations. This includes written programs, record keeping, reports, inspections, monitoring, testing, training and medical surveillance per guidelines. Maintain compliance with air and water permits. Perform required inspections and audits per permit requirements.
Directs, develops and delivers safety training programs to ensure employee's knowledge, understanding and adherence to safety and environmental regulations pertaining to the operation of the facility.
Develops and executes actions to reduce EHS risks using the 4E Risk Assessment DBS (Danaher Business System) Tools.
Leads EHS management programs including cost control/reduction and accident prevention/reduction, and business continuity.
Develops, implements and coordinates all Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomic activities
Handles non-hazardous, hazardous, and universal waste disposal and minimization activity.
Coordinates all Fire Prevention/Protection programs coordinating with FM Global. This includes all required training, recordkeeping, monitoring and reporting programs and results.
Track, approve, and maintain chemical inventories for global harmonization / haz-com and Safety Data Sheet online system updates.
Ensures all EHS issues identified during internal/external audits and Safety Committee audits are resolved.
Facilitate Safety and sub-team committees. This includes providing support with incident investigations and 5-Why Tree/Root Cause Analysis and application of corrective action.
Coordinates with site Human Resources Manager in the administration of Worker's Compensation and Early Return to Work Program.
Minimum Qualifications: Five or more years of experience leading high performance site or field level EHS program.
BS degree in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Sustainability, or other engineering or science focused field is required.
Experience in leading/handling compliance issues, permitting, laboratory operations, OSHA/EPA programs, regulatory reviews, permit preparation, reporting and record keeping.
Experience in evaluating/interpreting OSHA, DEC/EPA, DOT and NY state regulations and NFPA, ANSI, ASTM standards.
Industry experience supporting Field Service and Sales organizations is strongly preferred.
Must be able to work onsite at Port Washington NY office, some remote work will be supported.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office to create and generate spreadsheet, presentations, reports, graphs, and other intermediate functions.
Strong communication, leadership, presentation, training, analytical and organizational skills with strong proficiency in speaking and writing English.
RCRA - Hazardous Waste Management Training and basic experience as well as DOT - Hazmat Ground Shipper Certification Training (or ability to achieve)
Ability to travel 15 % as well as respond to emergencies on weekends and off-shifts if needed.
