Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, budget, and manage a wide variety of environmental projects including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, vapor intrusion investigations, groundwater investigations and monitoring, remedial investigations, feasibility studies, and others
  • Manage individual projects and multi-site programs for commercial and municipal clients
  • Interact with clients and regulatory agencies
  • Lead and support proposal efforts
  • Supervise staff setting up and executing projects including permitting; coordinating with staff, laboratories, and subcontractors; and obtaining necessary equipment
  • Ensure projects are performed safely
  • Prepare technical reports, including technical writing and review of report text, tables, and figures prepared by others
  • Mentor, supervise, and train junior staff in data collection, review, analysis, and reporting
  • Prepare presentations for clients and regulatory agencies
  • Travel to project sites and meetings locally and out of the area as necessary


Requirements:
  • BS in Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Toxicology, or related discipline
  • 10 to 15 years of work experience in conducting and managing environmental projects involving soil, soil vapor, and groundwater for commercial and municipal clients
  • Experience with project management and client relations
  • Familiarity with various drilling and sampling methodologies for soil, soil gas, and groundwater
  • Familiarity with California and Federal environmental regulatory agencies, programs, and regulations and experience working with DTSC and RWQCB staff
  • Familiarity with guidelines and standards for due diligence including EPA's AAI Rule and ASTM E 1527-13/1527-21 and for soil vapor and vapor intrusion evaluations including the Active Soil Gas Advisory and other California regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with remediation technologies for soil, soil vapor, and groundwater
  • Experience in working with other disciplines (e.g., toxicology, engineering, chemistry) to develop remediation goals and select, implement, and evaluate remedial measures.
  • Strong technical writing, organization, and communication skills
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally and out of the area as necessary
  • Will work primarily in an office or office/remote hybrid environment with occasional requirements to oversee field staff or subcontractors or perform other work at project sites
  • Must pass drug test, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving policy

Preferred:
  • MS or PhD
  • Professional license in California (e.g., PE, PG),
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification (if not, Wood will provide)

Physical Demands:
  • Field activities may require working in unfavorable weather conditions
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, climb and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Working in a standing position for the majority of the field workday
  • Ability to drive a pick-up truck
  • Ability to use hands to operate field equipment
  • Close, distance, and peripheral vision; normal auditory function
  • Must complete fit for duty employment physical demonstrating ability to meet job requirements, including the ability to wear a respirator, as required
  • Completion of annual or bi-annual employment physical, as required
